Michael's Birthday

Well Michael's birthday has come and gone but thought I'd share a bit about our trip up to Appleton Cove cabin. We had to postpone our trip for a day because of weather and it stilled rained on us on the way but it was a beautiful trip in ole Belly Ache. We packed 20 gallons of extra fuel as it is about 50 miles one way to the cabin. We had to go through Surgis Narrows for the first time and had heard horror stories about going through at the exact right time. Michael did a lot of research to get us going through at slack tide and to all of the people that gave us wrong information, always do your own research. Thanks Murray's Pacific in Sitka for setting us straight so we could have a safe trip. It was actually uneventful if you go through at the right time. That was a load off! lol
The cabin was nice and big but we did not trust the fuel stove enough to leave it on all night. It did however cook a 4 pound prime rib roast to perfection.
Started our day by putting out our skate line just outside Rodman Bay. Got 2 halibut off our 1st pull. Set it again and got 2 more halibut and a cod. Got skunked in our crab and shrimp pots until we set them in Appleton Cove and came up with 8 crab, still no shrimp. Oh well. It was a beautiful trip and Michael had a great birthday. The ride home was sunny and calm, fabulous!
Almost there!
