Juneau Costco Run

So we decided the truck needed some exercise so we took a fast ferry over to Juneau for a couple of days. The fast ferry runs from  Sitka to Juneau only in the summer months and the trip takes 4 1/2 hours compared to the regular Ferry that takes 10. It was a fabulous ride over and Michael even got a bit of a sunburn on his face as we sat out on the back deck the entire time over. Monday we had fabulous weather all day so we did our site seeing. We drove to the end of the road for Juneau which is 40 miles each way. The truck actually got to go 55 mph! Their bears are out now so we were on the lookout all the way. Never saw any. Went and saw the Glacier. It was beautiful with the sun hitting it making the blue hues.
Went downtown for the evening and did some appetizer bar hopping. Had some great stuff potato skins at the Red Dog Saloon and fried Brussels sprouts at the Imperial which were awesome! No breading on them just fried. Yummy. Had the best halibut chunks ever at The Sandbar , twice!
Tuesday we shopped till we dropped! Costco, Fred Meyers, Walmart and 3 sporting goods for ammo.
Fair Weather fast ferry

On we go!

Drunk Driver

So we had some excitement on our street last night at about 10:30pm. Sitting here getting ready to watch Jay Leno and we heard some screetching out front.

Jumped up to see was going on and this car zipped around the corner, hit our neighbors retaining wall, hit the power pole and came to rest upside down . The driver got out and ran down the street when he heard the sirens but came back to see if everyone was ok. Luckily he was by himself and managed to miss hitting any of our cars along the way. Didn't even kill our electricity as he pin balled down the street. I was really happy to see him handcuffed and getting dumped in the squad car. Idiot kid! Luckily he didn't hurt anyone.

Cheesy Easter

So we decided to give some of our homemade cheese a try and opened it on Easter and invited our neighbors downstairs to the occasion. The cheese we chose was actually a mistake we made but it was delicious! This cheese kind of seeped from the wax and we ended up wrapping it in duck tape to keep it sealed. We opened it on Saturday to try so we knew or not if we would be poisoning our neighbors. LOL We did not. We opened a provolone we had made also but the heat had gotten away from us so it did not stretch so we just made balls and left it to rest. Both cheeses were amazing! We paired them with a nice Bogle Petite Sarah. To go with

it we had some pecans, salami, crackers, pickled jalapeno's, honey, grapes, and I tried some with a chocolate cupcake that I decided I should never do again. hahah  I made some cheddar all by myself on Monday as Michael was called to work. It was beautiful! Our stairs down by the front door is getting a nice variety aging cheeses.
