Fishing on Easter weekend is good!

Monday we decided to go try our luck at some skate fishing. This is where we can put out a line that has 15 hooks on it. We baited them up with squid and down they went. You have to leave this line down for awhile so we went over and headed into Redoubt Bay. Michael actually was lucky enough to watch a whale breach! I missed it but I'm glad he got to see it. No picture though, sorry. lol We went from there up to Goddard where the city cabin is and the Goddard hot springs. What a beautiful area it is. A float plane landed to drop off a client at the hot springs.

We headed back a few hours later to our pull up our line. 1-2-3-4-5-6 halibut came up on our hooks! What an awesome feeling to go out catching as compared to fishing! hahaha  2 cod also took the bait and man was that delicious that night as the fish in our fish & chips dinner. Great day in Sitka Sound!
Heading into Redoubt Bay

Wouldn't you love to live here? Me too!

This is the City cabin that you can rent and is across from the hot springs

Hot springs bath house. I hear sometimes you have to share with naked fishermen! hahahaha

You get to the springs by boat or float plane. 10 min ride from Sitka

See the rainbow coming down to the water?

Biggest was 40 lbs, next 25 and the small ones we guessed may 10 and the 2 cod at the end

Thanks for a good day Belley Ache!

Proud Fisherman ! Now to clean them all!

Sunday Boat Ride

Went out for a boat ride on Easter Sunday. Cruised through the Apple Islands and around Middle island. Very nice to just putt putt around this beautiful place we live. Saw a bit of wild life but really got blown away by how many Eagles were out playing. I packed us a nice lunch and we just relaxed and Michael enjoyed his day off. He made me a fabulous dinner of roasted duck with orange sauce, sweet potatoes, and bacon wrapped asparagus. What a good guy I am married to!
Sorry, not a bird expert so I have no idea what these are but they were pretty

Sea Lion checking on us

I loved the clouds

Everyone was out enjoying their Easter

Why isn't the dog-dog paddling  hahahahahah

I'd hate to fall in, that water is cold!

I'm outta here!

Beautiful Day!

Had to get away from the snow!
So we decided to take the Belley Ache out such it was a nice day as compared to what we have been having. We headed up to Nakwasina Sound to see what was happening there. It was very calm and just beautiful as we entered the Sound. Tied up to the buoy at the Allen Point cabin and enjoyed our picnic lunch. From there we went around Halleck Island where we came across a deer that had gotten stranded on a small island with the tide. OOPS lol   Came out back into Olga Straight and crossed over into Krustof Sound. Came across a Harris Air 185 float plane that had landed ahead of us so we went to make sure they were OK. While we were heading that way we figured out they were watching Humpback whales! Saw a few Sea Otters but they wanted nothing to do with us. Stopped in for gas @ $2.62 per gallon. At that rate the fish better be scared!!

Looking back on town

Beautiful day in Feb 2015

Actually got the sun shining  today so we decided to go out on the boat to put more putt putt hours on the new drive. I packed us a lunch and off we went. Headed out through the harbor to avoid the wind. Still needed to put 3 1/2 more hours going slow on the new out drive so we headed out toward Katlian Bay until the wind got to much and we turned around. Caught a Sea Otter having lunch and caring less about us and a small harbor seal(we think) cruise around. The birds were enjoying the day as much as we were. Finally the weather is acting more like winter. Today anyway. lol Beautiful views of town and we actually saw what looked like a lighthouse home that being here over 2 years can say we never noticed it. Funny. Michael got a cool photo of the moon from our back porch the other night. Looked like it was sitting on top of Mt. Arrowhead. That is what I look at when I'm doing dishes. Doesn't get any better than this!

Lunch time!

That is our golf course up on the middle of the hill. I hear it's a tough course. I don't golf. lol

Light house house we saw for the first time  haha

Heading back to town
