So we took a vacation in our class B camper van we recently acquired. We leave it in a storage area in Haines then we fly over with Harris Air. We started in Haines camping at a wonderful campground Haines Hitching Post RV Park. What a great campground! Nice facilities and they have hair dryers in the bathrooms! We stayed with them the weekend before and after our 9 day vacation. We got on the ferry on Sunday morning and took us and the Rv with Ruckus in it for a short jaunt to Skagway. Spent about 4 hours there then on to Carcross where we saw the worlds smallest desert. Wasn’t really that small but was nice to walk in the soft sand. Ruckus loved it! Walked around their little town then started on to White Horse to the hot springs. Stayed at the Takhini Hot Springs campground which was ok, but the hot spring pool was fantastic! Our Aunt Liz and Uncle Boyd met us there and we spent 2 nights to soak in the pools. We left there heading back to Haines but stopped 2 nights at Lake Kathleen. It was a bit windy but Ruckus got the learn how to swim for sticks and we did a nice hike up towards Kings Throne. I took little Harper on the hike and her little dachshund legs worked like a champ. Her and I did about 4.5 miles round trip. Michael and Ruckus did 5. Beautiful views! Got back into Haines Friday night and the Southeast Fair was going on and we had fun going to that. So now we are home and back to reality. But we had a wonderful trip and look forward to more up in Wasilla. Lots to see and do!
