Beaver Tour for Dad's Birthday

Miles and Kathy came for a visit this summer. After showing them everything here in Sitka by land Michael set up a flight with John at Harris Air for a Float plane tour. It was a beautiful day for a ride in the Beaver. He headed out and went over Nakwasina Sound where we could check out our crab pots. We headed through the pass and landed on Rosenberg Lake. Spent some time exploring the area before taking off again. John showed us some beautiful sites along our route back to town. I had no idea we had glaciers on our island. What a treat to see. He took us past the highest peak which was spectacular. To be able to see the Ocean past the mountain ranges was awesome! You don't realize how many lakes are around until you see our Island from an Airplane! Thanks John @ Harris Air for a wonderful and memorable tour of this place we love and call home!

Happy Birthday Dad! Love M&M

24th Anniversary at Lake Eva

So Michael and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary out at Lake Eva again this year. This is our favorite cabin and you have to book it about 6 months in advance as it is very popular. John at Harris Air flew us in on Friday and we didn't get picked up till Tuesday. What a wonderful weekend. We did some fishing and one day we took the boat down to the trail head and hiked down to the beach. Michael fished the river along the was but not any bites. It was high tide at the beach so not much shell hunting. A beautiful hike though. It rained more than it ever has over this weekend but we made the best of it with our rain gear. I caught my first trout. Caught it-killed it-cleaned it- cooked it- ate it! It was delicious. Michael caught one too so it was a nice lunch.

Saw a bit of wild life this trip. There is a meadow just by the cabin and we always expect to look over and see a bear. none this time, but we did see a Doe and her 2 little babies having a good time by the lake and 2 other deer were keeping a close eye on us. A small bird made an appearance on the railing of the deck so I fed him crackers all weekend. Never saw our beaver but his nest was still there. We saw a river otter for the first time and we think he has taken over the beavers home. WE had cleaned our fish on the dock and the otter came up on the dock to look for fish. He even got into the boat to look around.

It was an awesome weekend , thank you Rob at Harris Air for fetching us up and returning us home safely. Always a fun flight with beautiful scenery. Looking forward to 25 years with my wonderful husband! I love you honey!
Instant potty, a bucket and a life jacket as a padded seat! Hey I don't go out and pee with bears at night. lol

Seattle Trip

Well Michael and I took it as long as we could but our cabin fever finally got the best of us. Hopped on Alaska Airlines and headed to Seattle for a fun weekend over Valentines day. We stayed downtown this time so we could enjoy all of the sights and sounds of the big city. We ate and drank, then ate some more. We had delicious biscuits and gravy at Biscuit Bitch. Had the most amazing duck wings at The Yard House and fabulous Mac N Cheese at Von's 1000 spirits. I actually brought back a bag of their sour dough pasta and guarded it with my life so it did not get broken. LOL We took a ferry over to Bainbridge Island and hung out there for a few hours. The sun had actually come out so we sat down by a marina and enjoyed the sun. Went to see the Chihuly Garden and Glass, which was amazing! Went to the movies one night and saw Hail Ceasar. Don't bother. hahaha  We went and did the underground tour. That was really interesting and fun to hear about Seattle's history. We enjoyed learning about all of the "Seamstresses" that finally got taxed. LOL Really fun!
So now we are home and Michael came down with the Flu. Thanks to all you germy people. I'm working hard to not get it!
We had a great time! Was awesome to see Seattle like we had not before!
